Profile of new graduate with reference to women’s health

Graduates of the National Core Curriculum in Women’s Health are expected to have:

  • Effective knowledge, skills and attitudes for practice
  • An empathetic approach to women and their health in the socio-cultural context of their lives
  • The desire to provide quality and equitable healthcare for women
  • The ability to work effectively in a team
  • An approach to life-long learning
  • An appreciation of ethical issues related to women’s health;
  • An ability to practice ethically;
  • An awareness of the need to deliver optimal care within available resources
  • An awareness of medico-legal issues
  • An appreciation of the value of research and its application to clinical practice;
  • Effective communication skills
  • The ability to recognise and practise within their limitations
  • The ability to reconcile personal and professional life
